Experience and Background

Oliver is a senior corporate lawyer with over 20 years’ experience leading teams of lawyers advising on company sale and acquisitions involving trade and PE, management buyouts, joint ventures and group restructurings.  He has acted for a diverse range of clients ranging from large corporates, institutional investors, owner managers, successful entrepreneurs and public bodies. Oliver has particular expertise in advising on transactions in the health and social care sector, where he is recognised as a leading lawyer nationally in the Chambers and Partners Legal Directory (2024 edition). He is head of the firm’s health sector group.

Oliver regularly advises on some of the highest profile transactions in the region.  Recent highlights include:

  • Advising the region’s leading agricultural machinery dealer on its acquisition of another leading regional dealership
  • Advising the management team of a national residential autism services provider on a PE backed acquisition
  • Advising the management team on their MBO of one of the region’s largest regional independent financial advisers and planners
  • Advising a large regional electrical goods retailer on a number of its strategic corporate acquisitions
  • Lead adviser on a complex multi-jurisdiction group reorganisation of a global leader in marine habitat restoration
  • Acting for a fast-growing professional services AI support business from incorporation through multiple rounds of start-up investment from a mixture of individual and corporate investors
  • Advising the buyer on their acquisition of a leading and high profile GT championship motor racing team
  • Advising on the liquidation demerger of a large multi-generation family owned corporate group comprising family investments, a farming business and other business assets, including liaising with family and professional trustees, co-ordinating the implementation of the multiple stages of the transaction with the group’s tax advisers, and putting in place arrangements to deal with residual assets and liabilities following the demerger
