James is a specialist commercial property solicitor and Partner in our Development team. He has a high level of experience from over 20 years advising landowners, investors (including institutional funds) and funders on all aspects of land acquisition, development and disposal.
He regularly gives specialist advice on option agreements, conditional contracts and overage arrangements. He has advised funders on numerous forward funding and other development projects relating to commercial and residential BTR schemes. He has advised on complex mixed-use sites promoted and developed through joint venture vehicles and other partnering arrangements.
James is very experienced at working either within or as an extension of client teams, in collaboration with other advisors, to understand the important underlying commercial needs and drivers behind projects. He enjoys partnering in this way to help clients find commercial solutions by advising on legal issues in the wider business context, to achieve the best outcome.
