Kirsten Tinline, trainee solicitor at Howes Percival, has been named ‘Trainee Lawyer of the Year’ at the Year at the Cambridgeshire & District Law Society Legal Excellence Awards 2019. The awards ceremony and dinner were held at Trinity Hall, Cambridge.
The ‘Trainee Lawyer of the Year’ category, sponsored by Geodesys, recognises an individual who has developed to a high degree both their legal skills and other professional skills such as team-working, communication, and people skills.
Howes Percival’s trainee lawyers complete four six-month seats, each in a different department and gain experience of working in different office locations, either in East Anglia or the East Midlands.
Kirsten started her training contract with Howes Percival in 2017 and is currently in her final seat, as part of the estates team in the Norwich office. Kirsten has also worked with the firm’s commercial property, property litigation and employment departments in Cambridge.
Kirsten was nominated for the ‘Trainee Lawyer of the Year’ award while undertaking her seat in the property litigation team in Cambridge, by Partner, Simon Murphy, who was her supervisor.
Commenting on the award, Simon Murphy said,
“Many congratulations to Kirsten on winning this prestigious award, during her time with my team I was very impressed with her hard-work and commitment. Our training programme is very well regarded. We like our trainees to get their hands dirty, working as part of the team and involved in matters from start to finish. Training is integral to the future development of the firm and, as a result, a good proportion of our senior lawyers and partners graduated from our training scheme.”
Tracey Martin-Heard, Head of Sales at Geodesys said:
“As a legal services company based in Cambridgeshire, we always look forward to sponsoring and attending the Excellence Awards. Trainee of the Year Kirsten is a shining example of new talent coming into the industry and we’re delighted to congratulate her on her well-deserved win. This is our eighth year of Awards sponsorship and, as ever, it’s so inspiring to see the results of so much hard work.”
