Fiona Stuart, a personal and corporate insolvency law associate at Howes Percival, has achieved insolvency practitioner accreditation, having successfully completed the Joint Insolvency Examination Board (JIEB) exams. She is one of only 18 people to achieve accreditation this year.
The JIEB is a set of three professional examinations for those who want to become licensed insolvency practitioners. The exams are a practical test of the knowledge and skills insolvency practitioners use in their working lives. Held once a year, the JIEB exams involve rigorous assessment across a range of areas including liquidation, administration, company voluntary arrangement, receivership and personal insolvency. To achieve accreditation status, candidates are required to pass all three papers. Fiona is one of only 18 candidates nationally to pass all three papers this year.
Working across Howes Percival’s Norwich and Cambridge offices, Fiona specialises in all aspects of personal and corporate insolvency and advises business owners, creditors, insolvency practitioners and other vested individuals. Although Fiona is expected to be a licenced insolvency practitioner, she will be non-appointment taking. The qualification will assist with a depth of knowledge and experience of insolvency that goes beyond the law and will inevitably add value to the advice provided to her clients.
Morris Peacock, a Partner at Howes Percival commented, “We are absolutely delighted for Fiona and extremely proud of her achievement. The JIEB are a notoriously difficult set of exams - to achieve accreditation requires a great deal of hard work and dedication. Of the candidates who sat three papers this year, only 41% passed all of them. We believe she is the only female dual qualified lawyer and insolvency practitioner in Norfolk.
“At Howes Percival we pride ourselves on providing the highest standards of professional service possible and we are committed to the development of our people. Our ability to handle complex private and Government insolvency work is recognised at a national level and it is largely down to the unrivalled experience and knowledge within the team.”
