Marking 25 years of our Leicester office and bringing to an end a year of celebrating and giving back to our wonderful city we are inviting secondary schools from across Leicester to take part in our exciting art competition – My Leicester.
Exclusively for local secondary schools ‘My Leicester’ celebrates everything great about the diversity of the city and we hope to encourage students to express and illustrate how they see Leicester and how the city inspires them.
WHO CAN ENTER?
The competition is open to secondary schools in and around Leicester in the following categories
• Years 7, 8 & 9
• Years 10 & 11
• Years 12 & 13
• Special Educational Needs Schools
WHAT TO SUBMIT?
Students are asked to submit a piece of artwork which celebrates the city and what it means to them. The entry may be accompanied by an optional brief description (max 150 words).
Entrants can use a variety of techniques, processes and materials including drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, collage, photography, montage or CAD. All artwork must be two-dimensional and maximum size A2.
All entries should be submitted online as a JPG, GIF or PNG. If your artwork is selected then you will be asked to present the final piece for exhibition.
Final entries should be e-mailed to [javascript protected email address]. One entry per email and clearly include the student’s name, name of school and teacher’s contact name, email address and phone number. Please do not include any private contact details for students or include any names on the artwork itself. All correspondence will be managed directly through the school.
Closing date for submissions is 4pm on Tuesday 18 April 2023. Winners will be notified by 14 June 2023
Only one entry per child.
EXHIBITION AND PRIZES
A winner and runners up will be selected from each category and an overall school prize awarded at the judges’ discretion.
A prize giving event will take place at Leicester Museum & Art Gallery on Wednesday 28 June from 4.30pm – 6pm.
Following the event the winning artwork will be displayed within Leicester for friends and family to visit and view.

WAIVER
Entrants into the competition confirm that:
1. This is their own work.
2. They give permission for the artwork to be displayed on our website, at the exhibition in June and via social media and news reports of the competition and event.
3. If chosen as a finalist, they will deliver the artwork to Howes Percival, 3 The Osiers Business Centre, Leicester LE19 1DX when requested and collect it within 7 days of the end of the exhibition.
4. They understand that Howes Percival LLP do not assume responsibility for any loss or damage to the artwork whilst at our premises or at the exhibition and the artwork will not be insured during this period.
