On Tuesday 20 August, representatives from local businesses joined the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) Director-General, Dame Carolyn Fairbairn at Howes Percival’s Leicester office to discuss a variety of Brexit-related issues.
Held strictly under Chatham House rules, the roundtable was organised by the CBI to enable members to provide Dame Fairbairn with first-hand input on a variety of Brexit-related issues.
In a video posted on the CBI Twitter feed shortly after the event, Dame Fairbairn shared some key views gathered from the roundtable. These included concerns from the university sector regarding access to R&D programmes across Europe in the event of a no-deal Brexit as well as wider concerns over the depreciation of the pound and its implications for local businesses.
Geraint Davies, Partner at Howes Percival and Regional Council member of CBI said:
“It is important that businesses in the East Midlands have their voices heard at the highest level at this critical time and we were therefore delighted to host this meeting between Carolyn and her team and business leaders across the region.”
