Howes Percival has appointed Partner Gareth John to its award winning East Midlands Corporate, Commercial and Banking (CCB) team.
Gareth brings over 25 years’ experience of advising clients on many different corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, disposals, group reorganisations and joint ventures. His clients have ranged from individual owner managers and management teams through to mid-market private equity houses and FTSE listed companies. He has also been recognised as a leading individual and member of the Hall of Fame in the Legal 500 directory.
Howes Percival Chairperson and Leicester Partner Geraint Davies commented,
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Gareth to Howes Percival. Gareth is a very well-known and respected adviser in the Leicester area and the wider regional market and a perfect fit within our existing team, in terms of experience and seniority. We pride ourselves on being one of the go-to corporate law firms in the East Midlands and the level of expertise that Gareth brings reinforces our position in the market.
“2023/24 was an impressive year for us with record high deal volumes. We are now regularly advising on complex and high value transactions and are receiving more referrals from existing clients and other advisers. As a firm, we have outlined plans for further growth in the next two years and we will continue to bring on board quality lawyers like Gareth to help support our expanding teams and we’re confident that 2024/25 will continue to be a very busy year for us."
The Leicester corporate team recently advised the shareholders of insurance broker Building and Land Guarantees Limited (BLG) on the sale to Nottingham based insurance broker, Russell Scanlan Limited.
Howes Percival established the Leicestershire Corporate Finance Club with the aim of creating an inclusive community that can work together to increase the number of deals being completed in the region. The club is open to all banks and other funders, accountants, solicitors, wealth managers and corporate finance advisors.
Howes Percival recently won Corporate Law Firm of the Year at the prestigious East Midlands Dealmakers Awards 2024, in recognition of the firm's consistent excellence in providing top-tier legal services. In November, Howes Percival won the equivalent award at the Central and East region Dealmaker awards, meaning the firm currently holds the title in both its core regions.
