Howes Percival’s Finance Director, David Abrahams has raised over £4,000 for homelessness charity, Crisis.
David raised the funds in sponsorship for volunteering his time and cooking skills on Christmas Day and Boxing Day to help prepare meals for homeless people at a centre taken over by Crisis for the holiday season.
Working eight-hour shifts, David’s jobs included scrambling around 600 eggs to cater for breakfast each day and preparing 24 turkey crowns for the evening meal.
The money raised so far makes David the third highest sponsored Crisis for Christmas volunteer in the country.
Speaking of his volunteer work, David said:
“Like most people, I have always found it easier to sponsor someone or make a donation than to find time to actually do something. However, a few years ago, I found myself in a position where I could commit to volunteering in the kitchens at a Crisis centre over Christmas. The atmosphere is brilliant and new friends have been made along the way. The days are exhausting and I applaud anyone who cooks for a living. I have been blessed with having a large number of colleagues, business associates and friends who have supported me over the years and am thrilled to have been a catalyst for a significant sum being donated to Crisis for their 2018 Christmas work.”
